They turned neither to the right nor to the left, and the lords of the Philistines went after them as far as the border of q Beth-shemesh. 12 And the cows went straight in the direction of q Beth-shemesh along r one highway, lowing as they went. 11 And they put the ark of the Lord on the cart and the box with the golden mice and the images of their tumors. If it goes up on the way to its own land, to o Beth-shemesh, then it is he who has done us this great harm, but if not, then we shall know that it is not p his hand that struck us it happened to us by coincidence.”ġ0 The men did so, and took two milk cows and yoked them to the cart and shut up their calves at home. Then send it off and let it go its way 9 and watch. 8 And take the ark of the Lord and place it on the cart and put in a box at its side n the figures of gold, which you are returning to him as b a guilt offering. 6 Why should you harden your hearts as i the Egyptians and j Pharaoh hardened their hearts? After he had dealt severely with them, k did they not send the people away, and they departed? 7 Now then, take and prepare l a new cart and two milk cows m on which there has never come a yoke, and yoke the cows to the cart, but take their calves home, away from them. Perhaps g he will lighten his hand from off you h and your gods and your land. 5 So you must make images of your d tumors and images of your mice that ravage the land, f and give glory to the God of Israel. Then you will be healed, and it will be known to you why c his hand does not turn away from you.” 4 And they said, “What is the guilt offering that we shall return to him?” They answered, “Five golden d tumors and five golden mice, e according to the number of the lords of the Philistines, for the same plague was on all of you and on your lords. 2 And the Philistines called for the priests and a the diviners and said, “What shall we do with the ark of the Lord ? Tell us with what we shall send it to its place.” 3 They said, “If you send away the ark of the God of Israel, do not send it empty, but by all means return him b a guilt offering. 7 The Lord’s anger burned against Uzzah because of his irreverent act ( M) therefore God struck him down, ( N) and he died there beside the ark of God.Ĩ Then David was angry because the Lord’s wrath ( O) had broken out against Uzzah, and to this day that place is called Perez Uzzah.6 The ark of the Lord was in the country of the Philistines seven months.

( K)Ħ When they came to the threshing floor of Nakon, Uzzah reached out and took hold of ( L) the ark of God, because the oxen stumbled. 5 David and all Israel were celebrating ( J) with all their might before the Lord, with castanets, harps, lyres, timbrels, sistrums and cymbals. ( I) Uzzah and Ahio, sons of Abinadab, were guiding the new cart 4 with the ark of God on it, and Ahio was walking in front of it. 3 They set the ark of God on a new cart ( H) and brought it from the house of Abinadab, which was on the hill. 2 He and all his men went to Baalah ( C) in Judah to bring up from there the ark ( D) of God, which is called by the Name, ( E) the name of the Lord Almighty, who is enthroned ( F) between the cherubim ( G) on the ark. 6 David again brought together all the able young men of Israel-thirty thousand.
